One of the things we love about United Way is their dedication to the development of families. The organization provides aid and funding to a number of different community programs, like Housing First, which helps support families that have lost their homes.

Victor was the father of one such family. Having lost his home, he had to take his children to a family homeless shelter. Housing First was able to take him and his family out of the shelter and move them into Section 8 housing. This was only the first step towards getting his family back on their feet.

Another one of United Way’s programs, the Financial Stability Center, continued to provide support by registering Victor’s children to a school and finding after school programs for them to participate in. Victor himself visited an affiliated career center, where he began to learn about starting a business. In addition to these many services, the financial education program offered by The Financial Stability Center helped Victor to repair his poor credit history and gave him lessons in managing his family’s finances.

The strength of our communities will be determined by the future success of our children,  and that success depends so much on their family situations. By funding programs to help support families in need, United Way is investing in the future.

Now you can help United Way while also helping us celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Boston architecture firm!
