Women Set to Land More CEO Roles

As a woman-owned company, we are always glad to see encouraging news stories about women in the business world, so of course we were excited to see this article in the Wall Street Journal!

In “More Women Are Primed to Land CEO Roles,” the WSJ reports that while the number of female chief executives is still low, there is change on the horizon. Women hold the top spot at only 35 Fortune 1000 companies, but according to Maggie Wilderotter, CEO of Frontier Communications, there are a number of promising female executives who may be in the pipeline for future CEO positions.

In good news for the pipeline, a study conducted by McKinsey & Co. for The Wall Street Journal, to be released Monday, found that 24% of senior vice presidents at 58 big companies are now women.

The Journal has compiled a roundup of “The Next Ten Women CEOs,” and it’s an inspiring group of women indeed! These executives are from such powerhouse corporations as Google, Starbucks, General Mills, McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, and more.
